The Art of Giving

The Art of Giving

"Rivers do not drink their own water,

nor do tree eat their own fruit, nor do rain clouds eat the grains reared by them.
The wealth of the noble is used solely for the benefit of others?

Even after accepting that giving is good and that one must learn to give,
several questions need to be answered.

The first question is when should one give?

Yudhisthir asks a beggar seeking alms to come the next day.
On this, Bhim rejoices, that Yudhisthir his brother, has conquered death!
For he is sure that he will be around tomorrow to give.
Yudhisthir gets the message.
One does not know really whether one will be తేరేtomorrow to give!

The time to give therefore is NOW. The next question is 'how much to give?

One recalls the famous incident from history.
Rana Pratap was reeling after defeat from the Moghals.

He had lost his army, he had lost his wealth , and most important he had lost hope, his will to fight.

At that time in his darkest hour, his erstwhile minister
Bhamasha came seeking him and placed his entire fortune at the disposal of Rana Pratap.
With this, Rana Pratap raised an army and lived to fight another day.

The answer to this question how much to give ఇస్ " Give as much as you can !

The next question is what to give?

It is not only money that can be given.. It could be a flower or even a smile.

It is not how much one gives but how one gives that really matters.

When you give a smile to a stranger that may be the only good thing received by him in days and weeks!

"You can give anything but you must give with your heart !

One also needs answer to this question whom to give?

Many times we avoid giving by finding fault with the person who is seeking.
However , being judgmental and rejecting a person on the presumption that he may not be the most deserving is not justified.

" Give without being judgmental !

Next we have to answer 'How to give?

Coming to the manner of giving, one has to ensure that the receiver does not feel humiliated, nor the giver feels proud by giving.

Let not your left hand know what your right hand gives?
Charity without publicity and fanfare, is the highest form of charity.

'Give quietly !

While giving let not the recipient feel small or humiliated.

After all what we give never really belonged to us.
We come to this world with nothing and will go with nothing.
The thing gifted was only with us for a temporary period.
Why then take pride in giving away something
which really did not belong to us?

Give with grace and with a feeling of gratitude.

What should one feel after giving ?

We all know the story of Eklavya.
When Dronacharya asked him for his right thumb as "Guru Dakshina"..
He unhesitatingly cut off the thumb and gave it to Dronacharya.

There is a little known sequel to this story.
Eklavya was asked whether he ever regretted the act of giving away his thumb when he was dying.

His reply was "Yes ! I regretted this only once in my life.
It was when Pandavas were coming in to kill Dronacharya
who was broken hearted on the false news of death of his son Ashwathama and had stopped fighting.
It was then that I regretted the loss of my thumb.

If the thumb was there , no one could have dared hurt my Guru?
The message to us is clear.

Give and never regret giving !

And the last question is

' How much should we provide for our heirs ?
Ask yourself , 'Are we taking away from them the gift of work?
- a source of happiness!'

The answer is given by Warren Buffett:

"Leave your kids enough to do anything , but not enough to do nothing !

I would conclude by saying: let us learn the Art of Giving , and quoting Sant Kabir:

"When the wealth in the house increases , When water fills a boat , Throw them out with both hands !

This is the wise thing to do

FINANCE IS NOT ALWAYS NECESSARY FOR SERVING / HELPING PURPOSE

hi friends please go through the following few lines patiently, if u have time....

FINANCE IS NOT ALWAYS NECESSARY FOR SERVING / HELPING PURPOSE

Service means not only financial/ monetary related because for those who are UNWANTED, UNCARED and UNLOVED money is not enough. They need your CARING HEART, a smile, a chat, a kind word, an advice and playing with them etc., It also includes helping the people who are doing these types of activities (in any way). Finally service means a thing which makes them feel that they have somebody to care.

If u have any plans and/or ideas on this type of activities please share with me and I am always ready in this regard and this is my life ambition also. I have some plans and I will share with you.

The above is not complimentary mail, it reminds you that this is the only starting and you have to do more work and be ready for this and keep burning your serving spirit. Collect any information regarding these types of activities if you have any chance.

A collective effort gives great results than an individual effort.

SERVING OTHERS - THE ULTIMATE AIM

We are all human beings i.e. we are next to almighty (GOD). It is not easy to born like this. We proudly got this opportunity and we have to make use of this. THIS LIFE IS NOT FOR US THIS IS FOR OTHERS ONLY. It is purely to help others / serve others. This attitude / quality is there in all of us. Some of them have recognized and striving towards this and in some of them it is slumbering because of his personal and professional problems. In this case this is the right time to wake up that quality. It may not possible to all of us to dedicate entire life towards serving others because of links / burdens created by GOD (Family & Relations). First of all we have to strive for our family goals or needs. After this your job is not over, besides this you have to lead u r life by serving others. It is not such a difficult task. WE CAN, IF WE THINK WE CAN. WHAT EVER THE MIND OF MAN CAN CONCEIVE AND BELIEVE HE CAN ACHEIVE. Service to others not only means financial support, it is only a part. Service means doing something that is not for the sake of you. It may be financial or physical support.

Keep repeating these words daily twice 'THIS LIFE IS FOR OTHERS' and ' I HAVE TO SERVE THE PEOPLE', then you automatically do things in such a way that help others. For this the things you need to develop is, Love people, be Patient, Listen to all, Physical and Mental Fitness. These are all not compulsory but if u have these qualities then u will become good in this area of serving. Apart from this the only thing needed, which is compulsory, is determination and dedication towards serving others.

Charity / Service begin/ come from home. As per this proverb if you start helping in your home to your parent’s then motto of serving others will start and grow rapidly. If you are not able to serve the people in your home, who are very dear and near to you and who are known to you very well, than how can you serve the people who are unknown to you. If you love all the people around you then you will do anything for them. Here itself your aim will begin to work. So people whether they are good or bad, try to elevate good / positives in bad people then they will also become good for you. Even though they are not good to you, you should be good to them. Then they will automatically become good to you.

In today's world everything is related to money. So money is a must for all activities. So you have to spend some money towards servicing activities. It may not be possible for us because of family problems, lowest Salaries or any other financial crisis or whatever it may be, to spent money towards our utmost objective. But there is a way i.e. we can do the same with these drawbacks by using Planning and Budgeting techniques. Don't bother about Planning and Budgeting techniques (like I am not Commerce Graduate then how can I), which means only to plan to save / keep some amount of money from our salaries for our objective in every month. It may starts from Rs.1, 10, 50, 100, 1000, 10,000… so on. It depends on your ability. Everything will starts from 1. So don't bother about the amount it may be small or big. Small savings leads to large and become huge savings. Ex. Save 100/- per month. After 10 month it will become 1000/-. Then you will group with people like you (yours friends, relatives etc.,). If your group contains 10 then your savings will be Rs.10, 000/- if your group or amount increases similarly the total will increase. Hundred may be small for us, not for the poor and needy. So my dear friends I believe we will start this small thing from this month itself.

Don't postpone this by assuming that I will be in a good position after 5 to 10 years, on that day I will have sufficient financial resources and then I will concentrate on all these things.

We may have problems with keeping this amount aside by not using the same for our personal activities. Then a small idea, buy a HUNDI and drop your savings into that. Drop Currency Notes rather than Change because it is difficult to take back the currency notes from storage unit. These all will come if you don't have strong determination. If u have you don't come across any problems.

So my dear friends, start doing the above and within shortly we are going to collect a lacks of rupees and using the same for a noble deed / good cause. If you find any needy person give it to him/her directly or take a demand draft on his/her name.

Hi friends I think it is a long boring session to you, don't think like this, think on this noble deed twice in a day and start real time work, then we will become good human beings which is enough for us for this birth.

Who are not interested in the above don't ignore this mail. Please think a while on this.

A SINGLE PERSON CAN / CAN'T DO SOMETHING

BUT A GROUP OF PERSONS CAN DO ANYTHING

MY AIM IS TO CREATE AWARENESS ABOUT SERVING OTHERS IN ALL OF US. I THINK WE ALL ARE AWARE OF THIS FACT, WHICH IS GOING TO MAKE AN IMPACT ON OUR LIVES. IF U STARTS NOW, IT WILL BECOME A HABIT IN YOUR LIFE.
